New to the scene, GM Ceglio is actively looking to make his own splash in the pool. Rumors have been swirling and Ceglio is keeping his cards close to the vest. "I've got some lines in the water," he said "just waiting for someone to bite." Sick of the sea/shark/fishing puns, this reporter asked him flat out...WHO is on the block? "We've got a bunch of players here that can attract a very nice return. Can i name them all? No, but I will tell you that MOST, if not all, of this team can be traded." He went on to add, "I've got no ties to them[the players] and their past with the organization. This is my team now!" He later went on the mention that currently he is in talks with teams involving Ryan Smyth. "Smitty is a team first guy, something that is invaluable. He plays with more heart than too many guys in this league."

Wheelin and Dealin??? After a deal that saw veteran defenseman Ed Jovanovski move for a nice package of youth, there are rumblings again in the sharktank. San Jose has been shopping its big name players in an attempt to get younger, but also remain relevant. There are a few teams that have been rumored to be in talks with GM Ceglio. "Ive got a few offers for a few big names. What would come back is youth and skill, its not just a plain salary dump" he said. The Sharks need to shed some salary even after the Jovo deal. "Teams from both the Eastern and Western Conference have been in touch. Some [teams] have offered what i think is fair value and others have balked at the asking price. If you want skill, youre gonna have to pay for it. No freebies." Rumored to be on the move are a few of the Sharks stars. Ryan Smyth's name has come up again, as has Brad Richards and Joe Thornton. "I love being a Shark," said Thornton, "I dont want to go anywhere" While Big Joe may love it in San Jose, the constant playoff failure may be taking its toll on the relationship the city has with its superstar. Ceglio, on his way out of the room left us with one more thought. "Anyone can be moved...plain and simple." Now we'll just have to wait and see who

Ceg's Making Moves!Just a few weeks into his tenure as Sharks GM, Nick Ceglio, or "Ceg" as he's known to most, has been busy. After dealing veteran Ed Jovanovski for Lukáš Krajíèek, Enver Lisin and prospect Chris Summers, he dealt away Brad Richards as well. This time Cegger got the talented polish winger Wojtek Wolski and the highly touted prospect Magnus Pääjärvi-Svensson. Was he done there? No. After those deals, which shed some cap space, Ceg went on to deal his top prospect, Kyle Turris, along with Lisin and Steve Bernier to the Islanders. What he got back was a great package of youth, skill and grit. "I made the deal for Bailey, but I wouldnt do it if Sean Bergenheim wasnt included," he said. The trade also brought skilled Danish center Frans Nielsen to the west coast. Nielsen said,"I loved my time on Long Island, but Im very excited to go out west with Josh and Sean. We will grow together and play with one of the greatest centers in the game." Nielsen was speaking of Joe Thornton. However, Thornton's name has been mentioned in trade talks the last few weeks, and at first, he was ok with it. As the talks have continued, it has worn on the player effectionately known as "Big Joe". "I dont want to deal with this ---- right now. The season is right around the corner. Why wait til now to do this? It almost at a point where I may asked to be moved." Thornton went on to add,"I love San Jose...its great here, my teammates, the fans, the weather, its all great. I just wish the trade talks would stop...one way or another. Im either a shark or im not. Enough of being in limbo." More news as we get it
