Oilers Beat Ducks 2-1Broduer shuts the door, as Oilers edge rivalsAfter a long offseason, full of change the new look Edmonton Oilers kicked off the season in style earlier today. With a 2-1 win over the rival Anaheim Ducks. Largely thanks to the remarkable goaltending of Marty Broduer, who stopped 29 of 30 shots faced in the victory. While Kyle Quincey added a helper, and Sergei Zubov scored the other oilers goal. Next up for the Oilers, thier home opener, the battle of alberta @ rexall place.
GM BLAKE:"This is a great way to start a new season, im very happy with the way the guys played out there, I mean with only three players returning from last years team, there is bound to be a transition period, as the guys get used to the style of play, and playing with one an other, but they made it look good out there today, and im hoping they can continue to do so. GO OILERS"

Oilers Rebuild ContinuesThe Edmonton Oilers made a big move towards their future earlier today, by shipping top line winger Scott Hartnell along with 2 late round draft picks to the Detroit Red Wings for top young goaltender Cory Schnieder, young forward T.j Galiardi, veteran winger Andrew Brunette and detroit's 2nd round draft pick in 2010.
GM BLAKE:" It really hurts moving scotty, especially when the teams out to such a great start, but as i said prior to the season, we are rebuilding here, and this move really helps our future, not to mention Brunette can definetly help fill the void left by scotty, i am very pleased with this move."
