SENS CLOSE TO DEAL WITH WESTERN TEAM?
Rumors are flying around that the Senators are actively speaking with an Western Conference Club that would bring in a big name player to Ottawa. If this deal completes, the Sens would roll with 2 lethal offensive lines along with their solid defense already, they could be a contender.
Rumor is that, Ottawa is also speaking to other teams regarding offensive players but none seems likely to happen.
Also, some names that are rumored to be on the block.

Ivan Lenarcic comments:
"It's tough to lose Vaclav, but he didn't really work out in our system and he was making too much, and this deal happened in a matter of minutes..."

SENS SAY HELLO TO BRAD RICHARDS
Ottawa Senators have announced today that the club has acquired forward Brad Richards from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for forward Wojitek Wolski and top prospect Magnus Paarjvi Svensson.
GM Ivan Lenarcic comments:
"Wolski is a young and still developing player, but we're looking to win now so it was a pretty good deal for us. Paarjvi probably won't be in the NHL for another couple years but we get a top 6 player. We're very excited about this season, although I don't think we're finished..Maybe one or two more deals before the season starts..but the roster is pretty much almost done."

SENS NOT DONE YET
It is reported that GM Ivan Lenarcic has roughly 9 million to work with this season and he's looking to fill 2 Left Wing positions. It is rumored that those 2 positions may be filled up in the next couple days. Both deals are with Western Conference Clubs. If things go as planned..then Ottawa may be looking at a deep offense along with a very good defense with potential to be a top team in the league.
Stay tuned.

Sens welcome Veteran Owen Nolan!
GM Ivan Lenarcic announced that the club has acquired veteran Owen Nolan from the Calgary Flames in exchange for Mark Stuart and a 4th round pick. We are overloaded with defense, and so it makes it a little easier knowing that Mark Stuart will get playing time in Calgary than being stored away on our farm. We wish him nothing but the best of luck over in Calgary. Nolan, most likely will be playing the third line role with Joe Pavelski and Colby Armstrong.
Ottawa Senators were rumored to be front runners for Milan Michalek, but it seems unlikely now..since Ottawa did not want to part with it's first round pick before the season started, and the costs without the first was just too high to part with.

SENS NAME CAPTAIN, PREPARE FOR L.A.
Today in practice, Sergei Gonchar was giving the orders..Why? Because he is named the Captain for the Ottawa Senators, that's why.
Brad Richards and Owen Nolan were named Assistant Captains. Oddly enough, all 3 players were acquired in the most recent off-season.
Tomorrow, Ottawa heads to L.A. A few players commented:
Sergei Gonchar: It's pre-season but we all got to play hard and find our chemistry so we can be fully prepared on the season-opener. L.A. is a tough team, it's very solid but we have a great group of guys with grit and skill and it should be a good one.
Jason Spezza: I'm excited, we all worked hard in practice and we're looking to show the fans the real Ottawa Senators, and that we're not the same team that lost 4-1 last game.
Craig Anderson: It's going to be a tough game, no game ever is easy. I just got to stand tall in net, be quick and keep the rebounds to a minimum.
Today's lines in practice:(Can not guarantee will be the same for the game)
Owen Nolan-Jason Spezza-Phil Kessel Mike Cammalleri-Brad Richards-Milan Hejduk Erik Cole-Joe Pavelski-Colby Armstrong Jay Pandolfo-Stephane Yelle-Todd Marchant
Sergei Gonchar-Matt Hunwick Bryan McCabe-Dennis Seidenberg Anton Volchenkov-Paul Martin
Craig Anderson Simeon Varlamov

SENS GO WINLESS IN PRE-SEASON
Sadly, the Ottawa Senators..as of now..aren't the team we all expected to be playing like.
"We felt like we played much better then 2nd game, but our offense has to wake up.. Scoring 5 goals in 3 games..isn't going to get you anywhere..especially when you've given up 13 goals in those 3 games."
Top 3 offensive players in the pre-season were..Joe Pavelski with a goal and an assist.. Richards with a goal and assist..and Cammalleri with a goal and one assist.
Ottawa will start the season off playing against the New York Rangers for their first opponent in New York. It is unclear what the lines would look like as Coach Peter Lavoriette is unhappy with the teams performance and sacks were seen being brought into the arena which was a closed practice.
