The Ottawa Senators have announced that they have re-signed General Manager Ivan Lenarcic to a one year deal that is rumored to be worth more than any other GM in SINHL. Here is what owner "Rasheed Tullworth" has to comment on the signing.
"Despite missing the playoffs this year, I know he has big things up his sleeve and we feel that this could be a very good year. We'll re-evaluate next year, and decide if he is worthy to return to this fine organization but we feel that he'll be back next year if all goes well."

Prior to the draft, General Manager Ivan Lenarcic has made 2 trades.
The first trade is that we traded defensemen Pavel Kubina to the St. Louis Blues in exchange for Goaltender Craig Anderson, prospect Simon Hjlarmsson and St. Louis 6th round pick in the 2009 draft.
"It's tough to trade away one of our best defensemen, but we needed to clear cap and we feel that our defense is strong enough defensive wise to hold down the back-end. Craig Anderson gives Toskala a healthy competition to see who gets the starting job, he could also provide to be a cheap solid back-up. S.H. when he comes over, could provide to be a very good player in the SINHL, he has great hands, speed and has hockey smarts. We also have a player that will be available around the Blues pick, who we think could be a solid contributor to the SINHL someday.
The 2nd trade is that we have traded the 8th overall pick to the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for the 11th overall pick, the 56th overall pick and a 7th round pick which is also in the 2009 draft.
We have targeted 3 or 4 players and we feel that they won't be taken until later in the first round. There will still be some great players available in the later rounds.
There are some rumors going around that General Manager Ivan Lenarcic may be shopping around top prospect Steven Stamkos and he may be looking to trade down even more.

Today, is a sad day, but it is also a good day. Today, we saw one of our future stars get traded, but then return is what made it a good day. #1 overall pick in the 2007-2008 Draft, Steven Stamkos was traded to Edmonton earlier today in exchange for defensemen Sergei Gonchar, Winger Milan Hejduk, Winger Wojtek Wolski, and Winger Marek Svatos along with the 78th overall pick. Also, center Paul Kariya and the 143rd overall pick went to Edmonton. "It's tough losing Stamkos, but we added a #1 defensemen, and 3 solid players. We're ready to win now and now later." -GM Ivan Lenarcic Ottawa Senators Line-up for next season Milan Hejduk-Jason Spezza-Mike Cammalleri Vaclav Prospal-XXX-Phil Kessel Erik Cole-Joe Pavelski-Wojitek Wolski/Marek Svatos Jay Pandolfo-Stephane Yelle-Todd Marchant/Richard Park Sergei Gonchar-Andrej Sekera Bryan McCabe-Anton Volchenkov Paul Martin-XXX Craig Anderson Vesa Toskala With this trade, we are still under the cap barely, but don't be surprised to see some more trades to bring in a #2 center. Rumors say that Patrice Bergeron from the Toronto Maple Leafs could be in a Senators uniform by tonight, or possibly a center from another team out west. Stick around.

GM Ivan Lenarcic guarantees PlayoffsThat's right folks, Ottawa Senators General Manger says that he guarantees making the playoffs this year. "We have a great team going onto the ice in a few months, I don't see us making many moves till then, most likely only a few small signings here and there and maybe a trade, but other than that this is what you'll see in early October. I can see this team going far, it's got a great mix of veterans like Gonchar, Hejduk and Skillfull youth like Kessel, Cammalleri." Also, GM Ivan L. has also announced that the first 10,000 fans on the home opener will receive an autographed puck. 1,000 pucks are signed by Phil Kessel 1,000 pucks are signed by Sergei Gonchar 1,000 pucks are signed by Bryan McCabe 1,000 pucks are signed by Joe Pavelski 2,000 pucks are signed by Milan Hejduk 2,000 pucks are signed by Michael Cammalleri 2,000 pucks are signed by Jason Spezza - - Milan Hejduk-Jason Spezza-Michael Cammalleri This line has all the materials to be a dominant offensive force in the league. Jason Spezza, coming off a 30 goal campaign last year, the same with Cammalleri. Spezza and Cammalleri both have the ability to pot 30 goals in this league, and add at least 40 assists each. Hejduk is probably good for 20 goals and 40 assists as well. - - Wojitek Wolski-Vaclav Prospal-Phil Kessel Phil Kessel will most likely lead this line in goals, coming off a 36 goal season. He has a decent passer in Prospal who will also put the puck in the net and Wolski who's decent at scoring and passing. Kessel is capable of putting up 30+ goals and 30 assists. Prospal is 20 goals, 30 assists, Wolski for 20 goals and 35 assists. - - Erik Cole-Joe Pavelski-Marek Svatos Erik Cole, being the veteran leader on this line but Pavelski is looking to be a rising star. All 3 have capability to put up 15 goals each along with 25 assists. - - Jay Pandolfo-Stephane Yelle-Todd Marchant This line is the defensive line, with 80 DF all across. It will be sure to shut down the opposing team most of the time. - Sergei Gonchar-Andrej Sekera With a top 10 defense men holding the support of the line for the offense, Sekera is able to chip in with some offense but mostly defensively. - Bryan McCabe will lead this line in the offensive support, but holding the back end is Anton Volchenkov, one of, if not the top defensive defense men in the league. -[TBD] Paul Martin, a solid all around player. Able to chip in offensively at times, but mostly known for his stellar defensive play will hold the fort on the backline. It is unknown who will join the defense men, we will know during free agency, if there is anyone on the board that we feel is capable to play on our team at the right price. It seems like that Toskala will lead the Ottawa Senators in the pipes, despite an off season with the Maple Leafs, who were one of the worst teams in the NHL. Toskala still managed to put up a winning record. Anderson, will provide for the back-up right now. Coming off a great season, he will look to try to beat Toskala for the starting job in training camp. The Senators current cap is $54,513,000, which means they have roughly $2,287,000 to spend.

GOOD DRAFTING?
That's the way it is done here in Ottawa, we draft nicely.
With the first of their 2 first round picks, Ottawa selected from Sweden, Magnus Paarjvi Svensson. A future top 6 player, great hands, great speed. Needs to work on defensive game. Next, they drafted defensemen Jordan Caron. Caron has all the skills to be a great defensemen in this league. He has excellent hockey smarts, great hands, a powerful slapshot and great open ice vision. Is willing to drop the gloves to stick up for a teammate. Then we drafted Landon Ferraro, but traded him to Washington, in exchange for prospect Ben Maxwell. We were excited to bring in Ferrero, but this was an offer we had to take. Maxwell, a 6'1 player. Very skilled, and we feel he will be ready for SINHL maybe next season, if not, then the season after.
Ottawa still has a bunch of picks throughout the draft, but my sources tell my they eye only one player.

Who's Ottawa Bound?
It is rumored that General Manager Ivan Lenarcic has mad an offer to 6 players, and possibly more could be on the way.
With about 2 million in cap space, the Ottawa Senators are left with one spot open, which is more than enough to sign their last defense man.
Stay tuned.

Sens ink Seidenberg!GM Ivan Lenarcic announced this morning that the club has inked defensemen Dennis Seidenberg to a 3 year contract worth 6.6 for 3 years. (2.2 per year) -GM Ivan Lenarcic "We are happy with the addition of Dennis, I have to admit. Our first target was Zubov, but we are for sure excited to have him aboard with us for the next 3 years. Our defense is all set, with Gonchar, McCabe, Volchenkov, Martin, Seidenberg and Hunwick. We're still addressing our forward needs and we may have just found the person we're looking for. See a move to be made in a few days to clear some cap space."

SENS INK C.ARMSTRONG!
With forward Colby Armstrong looming around in Free Agency, GM Ivan Lenarcic offered a 2 year contract, worth 3.5. (1.75 per year.) Colby quickly accepted.
"Colby's the type of player we need on this team, he can put the puck in the net and he plays with heart and grit."
In other news, the Ottawa Senators also drafted 2 defensemen in the 3rd round, Alexander Urbom from Sweden and Ryan Button. Look for Ottawa to focus on offense throughout the draft now.
