Los Angeles, California, USA - The Los Angeles Kings, who started the season on somewhat of a tear, have seemed to slow down after trading #1 goaltender Pekka Rinne to the Buffalo Sabres for star winger Marian Gaborik.
"We wanted to secure a top line of talent, and round out our top nine perfectly, and it seems like it might of back fired for the time being" said GM Anthony Wyng following the Kings 4-2 loss to the Detroit Red Wings. "Sure, we aren't going to win all 82 games this year, but Steve Mason who looked to be prepared to take over the #1 duties role, looked very shaky in his first start of the season" he added.
"I had jitters and nerves, that's for sure. I felt focused, but I was fighting the puck. I have to remember that this is fun, as well as a job, and just play my game out there" said new starter Steve Mason for the Los Angeles Kings.
The Kings fell to the Wings for the first defeat of the season, and now it seems, although only 1 game, that the Kings might of made a poor move.
"Time will tell, as we won't asses this situation until at least 5 or 6 games later. That's the situation at hand at the moment. Until Mason fills into his role, we will not panic" said the teams Coach after the game.
No other comments were made by the team as they were very upset with the loss and the locker room doors were closed to the public and the media.
