I wasnt talking about a waiver or claim but if I as a GM see someone not on a roster I feel I should be alloud to offer him a contract but he doesnt necassarily have to take the deal I just dont think all the undrafted players should be put on a list and everybody bidding on them, I think research should be rewarded sometimes

free agent signings dont make sense. Those players wind up on the prospects list and thus do not generate cap hit. So how can we bid on them. There's no way they should be created before actual draft picks since theyre not as good, so that just dosnt make sense to me.

If you want to make it fair, i say go by the entry draft order or make a new draft order of teams and let teams pick a player. If a team does not want to pick, they can pass.
Only make it 1 or 2 rounds MAX
but thats just me

I dont really understand what your saying not as good, I believe this convo is about signing guys like Gustavsson and Brunstrum from last year guys who sign contracts that were never drafted and cant be drafted anymore... we dont need another draft because even if we do another draft we will still miss some players. and when teams in the NHL sign guys who havent been drafted and say are UFA's out of college, or to old for the CHL or from europe and are over 20 years they ethier play on the NHL team in some cases or they go to the AHL when they are signed, so that should be the same here. if u sign a UFA he needs to be on your AHL roster or your NHL roster, since these guys that will be signed will be 20-25 years old

DEMO -
I agree with you 100%.... for example I signed Yannick Riendeau this past season as a 21 year old Q player. The debate was about what to do with the "extra" players from this years NHL draft, since our league has 4 less teams than the real NHL, so a bunch of players would remain undrafted. Therefore, it makes no sense to me having free agency wars over 17-18 year olds that got drafted in the 7th round in this years NHL draft. For players that were never drafted, then its fair game and anyone should be allowed to sign them.
